1. Topics Issued
- DOE announces their topics at least one month before the letters of intent (LOIs) are due. 2. Submit your Letter of Intent
- All DOE Phase I, Phase II, and extension applicants are required to submit a letter of intent (LOI) to be eligible to submit a full proposal. Applicants have the flexibility to submit up to 10 different LOIs, with each LOI being uniquely responsive to the topic and subtopic to which it is submitted. The DOE utilizes the LOI to determine reviewers and will provide feedback only if a LOI is deemed unresponsive. LOIs must be submitted through DOE’s Portfolio and Award Management System (PAMS) portal, ensuring compliance with the agency’s requirements.
3. Submit your Full Application
- Full applications are prepared and submitted through the DOE’s web portal, grants.gov, using a Workspace unique to a specific Funding Opportunity Number (FON). Applicants must adhere to the guidelines and instructions provided by the DOE for completing and submitting their full applications.
- Once submitted, applications undergo review by an external peer review panel consisting of experts in relevant fields. Notifications regarding the outcome of the review process are typically announced within 2-3 months after the full application deadline.
